Chicken and Rice inflation hits Midtown

Trini Pak Boys to raise prices

Recession Rolls

Friday is looking like a Trini Pak cart day, largely because it'll be the last day you can get a large portion of their much beloved chicken and rice for $5. According to our top secret sources, the large will run you $6 starting Monday. The five dollar mark has always been the de facto standard for chicken and rice but it looks like that's starting to change. Rising oil prices = rising chicken and rice prices.

In other news, there's a new cart in town. It's called Caribbean spice and it appears to be an ofshoot of a now defunct Caribbean restaurant that was in Hell's Kitchen. It's located right next to the Biryani cart and, after trying it yesterday, I an assure you that it's pretty damn good. Midtown lunch has a full report.

Lastly, we've had the Philly Chicken Tikka a couple more times and have been doing our best to reassure the owner of the Biryani cart that it tastes pretty damn good. We've suggested that he add it to the menu and he said okay but have yet to see it make its debut. You can be sure that any new developments on that front will be reported here first so keep checking back!
