The Cheesesteak Tikka Masala

Plus: The Philly Chicken Tikka revisited

Cheesesteak Tikka Masala

Behold, the Cheesesteak Tikka Masala! A second trip to the Biryani Cart for more off-the-menu fun has resulted in the fullfilment of Steve's dream: a Philly Cheesesteak with Chicken Tikka Masala sauces. In the photo, it kind of looks like a run-of-the-mill cheesesteak but, if you look carefully, you can see little bits of the delicious green hotsauce used at the cart.

According to Steve, it's "too far removed from its Indian-ness, perhaps some seasoning of the meat itself would help." He went on to describe it as a very worthwhile, spicy Philly Cheesesteak that doesn't warrant the "tikka masala" in its name. At least not yet.

We're going to file this under "looks promising, probably worth revisiting in a week or so."

Philly Chicken Tikka

I was working from home yesterday so when I saw Steve's post you can imagine how intensely jealous I was. With all the anticipation that built up over the following twenty-four hours, I could've very easily been disappointed when I finally got to try the sandwich (which we've named the "Philly Chicken Tikka"). Thankfully, it was as good as I had imagined. The cheese goes surprisingly well with the chicken and the raw onions add a nice touch, even if I can still kinda taste them...

Of all the things Lunchboxr has achieved in its young life, this has got to be one of the things we're most proud of. The Philly Chicken Tikka is still a work in progress but hopefully it'll someday see the light of day and make its way onto the menu for the general public to enjoy. In the meantime, feel free to ask them if they can make it for you and be sure to tell them you saw it here first: on Lunchboxr.
